General Chemistry Review Study Guide - Do You Need One?

General Chemistry Review Study Guide - Do You Need One?Many of us have some friends who swear by using a General Chemistry 1 review study guide. These are usually those people who have found that there is a great deal of reading involved with the subject and they do not feel that this is the best way to learn about chemistry. However, I can tell you that using a review book is one of the best ways for someone to learn about chemistry. Before you purchase a book you should make sure that it is something that you will be interested in studying chemistry. If you have been studying other subjects then you might have a lot more interest in Chemistry. For example, if you do not like science and would rather be able to turn on a television set to learn about chemistry than biology, then why would you use a book on chemistry?I am not saying that you should not try to learn biology first if you are really interested in Chemistry. That is because if you have always had a strong desire to study chemistry but your friends did not understand the subject or simply did not want to spend money on you, then it may be a good idea to just stick with biology. But if you are not willing to pay someone else to teach you Chemistry, then how can you learn the subject? Well, you could learn by yourself. There are many times when you will find that your chemistry books are not worth the money that you paid for them. This is especially true if you read the reviews that say that they are full of grammatical mistakes or that they do not contain enough pictures. These things happen when people feel as though they are spending their money on the wrong thing. When you are using a review book, you are going to find that they cover the basics. However, when you are learning from a lecture or from a video that you watched, it is important that you understand the material that is being covered so that you canapply what you have learned. This is an important step in becoming a good scientist. If you a re still wondering whether or not you should use a review book in your studies, then I would have to tell you that you probably should not. You may find that you learn a lot more when you are allowed to read. When you are allowed to read, it is a much easier process to understand a particular subject. Many of the General Chemistry 1 review study guides are for Macs. If you are using a computer that you bought or are renting, then I would have to advise that you do not use one of these. Not only are they designed for Macintosh computers, but you would have to have the right programs installed for them to work properly.Of course, you can also go online and get an eBook that contains all of the information that you need to learn about Chemistry. You should not be afraid to look online for all of the options that you have available to you. You can even learn through a single page in a book, but you cannot do this in the same way when you are learning from an online source.

How To Start Bilingual Tutoring For Children

How To Start Bilingual Tutoring For ChildrenBilingual tutoring for children can be extremely beneficial to your child's education. With the proper preparation and guidance, it is possible to help your child become fluent in two languages with little or no extra effort on your part. The first thing you need to do is understand how your child learns. If you have a child who speaks one language and they attend school in another language, they are learning their second language. There are a variety of reasons why this happens. The most common reason is that a child receives lessons in both languages at home.In order to give children a chance to learn the second language, they are often placed into different classes where they hear the teacher speaking the other language. While some of these children learn quickly, there are some who do not. If you suspect that your child does not hear or understand the teacher, you can enroll them in bilingual tutoring. This means that the children will g o to school in two different languages, but they will still receive the same education. You will need to pay attention to the schedule that you set. Children need to learn at their own pace and you will want to make sure that they receive the right curriculum and the right amount of instruction. If the school system teaches your child in both languages, they will benefit from receiving the same amount of instruction in each language. Many bilingual tutors focus on teaching the children their second language. This is important because the child can enjoy being in school in a place where they know a variety of different people. While the child may not be able to identify a lot of the words that are spoken, they will have the opportunity to interact with many different people and learn about different cultures. Many children enjoy the idea of interacting with other children. They are more likely to learn to communicate with other children when they are able to converse in a variety of dif ferent languages. Being able to converse with a variety of different people will increase their chances of success in school. If you have children who are bilingual, consider hiring a bilingual tutor to help them become proficient in their second language. It is very easy to learn the second language and many parents do not realize the benefits of doing so. There are many options to choose from and by looking around you can find a provider that is just right for your child.

Circle Graphs

Circle Graphs The circle graph is a graph drawn in the shape of a circle and is divided into sectors. Each of these sectors represents a part of a data set. These sectors may be mostly represented as percentage. This circle graph is also called pie chart. To draw the graph we need to calculate the degrees for each arc or sectors. This is done by multiplying percentage with 360 degree. Then with the help of a protractor the graph is drawn. This circle graphs are very useful tool and explained by the following examples. Example 1: A collection of 200 people are sitting in a room. These are 3 colored chairs; 80 sitting on red, 60 sitting on blue, and 60 sitting on green. Calculate the percentage and degrees of the circle graph. Solution: Total people are 200 Percentage on red chair = 80/200 x 100= 40%; (40/100)360 =144 Percentage on blue chair = 60/200 x 100= 30%; (30/100)360 =108 Percentage on green chair = 60/200 x 100= 30%; (30/100)360 =108 Example 2: In a traffic jam, we have 20 Zen, 20 Santro, 30 Nano and 40 WagonR. Find the percentage and degree of the types of cars. Solution: Total cars = 20+20+30+40 = 110 Percentage of Zen = 20/110 x 100 = 18.18%; (18.18/100)360 =65.45 Percentage of Santro = 20/110 x 100 = 18.18%; (18.18/100)360 =65.45 Percentage of Nano = 30/110 x 100 = 27.77%; (27.77/100)360 =99.97 Percentage of WagonR = 40/110 x 100 = 16.66%; (16.66/100)360 =59.97

Connotation and Denotation

Connotation and Denotation Connotation and Denotation Words have duel meaning, a straight forward or literal meaning and a hidden meaning that is connected to the emotions and imagination. In other words they have both denotative and connotative meanings. Denotation is the literal or dictionary meaning of a word and connotation meaning is related to the emotional association that we attach to a word. For example, the word snake has two meanings; the literal meaning is that of a scaly reptile that slithers on the ground. The connotative meaning is different when we refer to the snake we think of evil. Many words carry two meanings, an actual meaning which is known as denotation and an imaginative or emotional meaning, known as connotation. We will understand the concept better if we look at an example of connotation in a sentence and analyze it. Harry is a chicken; he cannot face his enemies face to face. Literal meaning of chicken is a small animal that tastes good, but the implied meaning of chicken is something else here. The connotative meaning of chicken means is somebody who is a coward or is afraid to face danger. Denotation in a sentence Denotation means literal or real meaning of a word that is given in a dictionary. To explain further let us look at a denotation in a sentence and analyze it thoroughly to get the literal meaning of a word. Example: I saw a white dove flying against a blue sky. Literal or actual meaning of the word dove a small bird that is docile and harmless. In this sentence dove refers to the actual bird. Connotation in a sentence Connotative meaning of the word is not so straight forward, it is imaginative, and relates to some idea, concept of emotion. Let us look at the earlier example, a white dove the symbolic meaning of a white dove is peace. So if we apply connotative meaning to the above sentence its meaning changes. The individual saw the emblem of peace in the sky. Connotation and Denotation Denotation is exactly what the dictionary says, many words have similar denotative meaning but their connotative means depends on the context in which they are used. Take the example of the word quest. The literal meaning of quest is in search of something. There are several other meanings of quest, these are hunt, seeking, journey, mission, enterprise. While quest sounds good, hunt that has the same meaning appears to be a little negative. Hunt is generally connected with an aggressive action, and gives negative meaning. Depending on the context a word conveys a negative or positive meaning. Let us look at the way the word hunt and the way it is used in three sentence I am going on a hunt with my friends The police has started a hunt for the perpetrators of the crime Let us hunt together for better opportunities. In the first sentence the word hunt is used in the neutral form, to catch or kill wild animals. The same word takes a negative shade in the second sentence, here it means pursuit in order to punish. The third sentence has more positive vibes, here the word means going on a mission or journey to seek better opportunities. The above example shows that there are three types of connotations, neutral, negative and positive, depending on the feelings associated with the word. Neutral The word neutral means that no feelings, positive or negative, are attached, so a neutral connotation means something that does not engage emotional feelings. Example: Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world The highest in this sentence is simply stating a fact, there are no feelings, positive or negative are attached to it. Negative and Positive Connotations Negative and positive connotations are related to feelings implied or expressed in a sentence. In other words, negative and positive feelings depend on the context in which the same word is used. The context changes the meaning of the same word. Let us use the same word highest we have used in the neutral sentence. Example: (1) Jim has become a CEO; he has reached the highest pinnacle of his career. (2) Jack deserves the highest punishment for the crime he has committed. The word highest is used to mean the top level in the first sentence to shows positive connotation. The same word highest is used in the second sentence to convey a negative meaning. List of some positive, negative and neutral connotations, generally used in every day language. Positive Connotation Neutral Connotation Negative Connotation Self-confident Arrogant Proud Dignified Snobby Reserved Modest Shy Mousy Venerable Elderly Old

4 Study Tips When Youre Completely Stuck in a Rut

4 Study Tips When Youre Completely Stuck in a Rut Suzy S. Feeling burned out? Reset your brain with these helpful study tips from Chicago, IL tutor Hilary B... Do you ever feel like your brain is in a rut? It’s happened to all of us maybe there are a set of vocabulary words you just can’t seem to memorize, or a new concept you understand in theory but can’t seem to put into practice. Maybe you just don’t feel quite as sharp as you usually do. But one thing is certain feeling frustrated and angry isn’t going to help you learn anything. In fact, it’s probably hindering you. Here are four study tips to help boost your learning and get your brain out of its rut: 1. Pay attention to your state The first thing I always ask my students when they tell me they are having difficulty with focus, memorization, or comprehension is whether they drink caffeine. I ask this question because state-dependent learning is a real thing, and every student should be using it to their advantage. The principal behind state-dependent learning is simple: our brain absorbs and processes information differently depending on its state. There are a myriad of factors that can go into your brains state. Of course, there are the obvious factors like caffeine and alcohol, but there are also other factors like the music you are listening to or how recently youve had a meal. The point is to identify the state factors that help you learn, and to recreate them. So if you learn best when you are listening to the Spice Girls and drinking a cup of Earl Grey, then go for it! 2. Eat a good meal Weve all grown up hearing it: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And as much as we hate to admit it, our mothers were right on this one. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but the other meals are important too. If you find youre stuck on something, go make yourself a well-rounded meal (leafy greens included). Just the act of getting up from your desk to do something healthy will reset your brain, and a hearty, healthy meal will keep your brain going a lot longer than sheer willpower. 3. Put away the flashcards Sometimes the oldies are not always the goodies, and in the case of memorization this is definitely the case. There are many different methods for memorizing bits of information like dates, places, and vocabulary that dont involve hunkering down with a stack of index cards. Try creating a mental map of the information you need to remember visualize each bit of information as corresponding to a detail about a place you know well, like your bedroom. If that doesnt work, try processing the information differently by drawing it into a picture or incorporating it into a song. 4. Give up but make a plan for tomorrow Sometimes your brain just isnt going to do what you want it to do, no matter how many study tips and tricks you try. Maybe you didnt get quite enough sleep last night or the neighbors dog wont stop barking. Maybe you just arent feeling sharp or motivated. If you feel like youve tried everything and it still isnt clicking for you, then get up from your desk and go do something else. I guarantee using your time productively will ultimately feel better than tearing your hair out over difficulty focusing. If you need to give up for the night, then give up for the night. But always make a plan to start fresh in the morning. Decide on a time and a place you are going to pick things back up and stick to it that way you can really relax during the time between deciding to do something else and picking up where you left off. After all, sometimes you just need to let your brain do its thing. Hilary B. teaches study skills, college admissions, and essay writing in Chicago, IL.
